From first read, the characters felt alive and fun to play. The banter lands, the soft moments breathe, and the humour has heart. I’m proud to be part of a series that celebrates women finding their power and each other. But it presented an intersting challenge for audio – voice prints!
Because Sam and Taylor spend so much of the story in conversation, the goal was to keep their voices distinct while still natural. I pulled and stretched different qualities of their personalities to make them unique:
- Sam — softer and warmer. A gentler pace, easy smiles in the vowels, and a soft lift at the end of thoughts to reflect her ocean‑dreaming hopefulness. She brings a little levity.
- Taylor — a touch deeper and heavier, tomboyish and handy. Cleaner consonants, a more grounded centre of gravity, and a quicker reply rhythm when emotions get close. She’s broody.
The supporting friends add colour too. They carry a touch more energy so it’s easy to follow who’s in the scene without it sounding stylised. The aim: you can always tell who’s speaking, without it sounding distracting.
