The BECOME audio drama is now streaming on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and I’m in it! As a Meth Head.

After a long stretch voicing kids and sweet old grannies, this was a sharp left turn. And honestly, I felt like Zoolander – convinced there was no chance in hell of getting the role!
The audition
I read the brief and made a choice: fully commit, throw the audition out into the ether, and refuse to let my head get in the way with embarrassment or second-guessing. I recorded multiple takes, did a review before submitting, and didn’t look back.
That approach, lo and behold, landed me the role in this podcast. And now you all get to hear it. How embarrassing!
But that’s the coolest (and cringiest) thing about being an actor. Your soul is laid bare all the time. No matter who the character is, there’s always some of your own soul in it.
What is BECOME?
It’s character-driven storytelling with supernatural overtones, built for late-night listening.
“An ordinary husband and father begins losing his grip on his extraordinary secret: he’s a werewolf.”
BECOME includes grounded performances that feel like you’re getting a peek into the characters’ lives. In particular Detective Duster is so naturalistic in the show that you feel you’re eavesdropping on real conversations. The sound design is specific and immersive.
It stars the wonderfully talented Aud Andrews (who also played my character Borsha’s pseudo boss, Chartrulean in The Madness of Chartrulean audio fiction podcast) as the lead werewolf character, and they carry the core emotional thread brilliantly.
Working with Pinball
For this one, I self-recorded a few variations for each scene, giving the editor options to shape the final arc in post.

What’s next
Voice acting for audio dramas, games and animation is so unique – you record your lines often months before release, then get to experience the final product alongside the listeners when it finally launches.
There’s a lot in the works. You’ll just have to keep your ear to the ground and your eyes to the sky.
